Woolhope Seal 17th League Title

The first post-Covid Herefordshire Short Mat Bowling Association Winter League season was completed in April, with the Division One title coming down to the last match of the season, a showdown between sixteen-time Winter League champions Woolhope and their ever-present challengers Ross ‘A’. Woolhope would have hoped to have had their 17th title in as many years wrapped up before their final game away at Ross but tripped up in their penultimate game against Gorsley Chapel, where 8 points or more would have secure the title, only winning 6-4 and giving Ross a small chance of an upset. However, Woolhope (pictured) proved to be too strong for their rivals and completed the season in triumphant fashion, winning 8-2 and unbeaten for the season.

In Division Two, Ross ‘B’ took the plaudits with their second Division Two title. Llangarron successfully held off Fownhope to claim second place, with Golden Valley finishing fourth in only their second season. With the Winter League season now complete, the County looks forward to the return of the multi-discipline Summer League, where seven teams from across the county will compete for the Summer League title. If you are interested in the sport of Short Mat Bowls, there are teams across Herefordshire ready to welcome you! Further information is available through the website: hsmba.org.
