The 2021-22 competition was played at the Ross Bowling Club with 15 pairs competing initially in 4 round robin groups. The top two teams in each group progressed to the knockout stages and by the semi-final stage it was guarenteed that a new pairing would lift the trophy. The first match saw the St Martin’s pairing of Rhys Palmer and Jim Knowles, looking to reach the clubs first County Championship final, taking on the winner of the last three Coutny Pairs Championships, Joe Loveys, this year teaming up with Gorsley Chapel clubmate Dean Rudman. Ultimately, it was not to be for the St Martin’s due as Dean adn Joe produced a strong performance to win 11-2. In the other Semi-Final, the current Over 55 Pairs champions Claire Herbert and Peter Wright fought hard, coming back to win 10-7 against Ross clubmates Dave Rush and David Millington Jones.  A nip and tuck final saw neither team take control until a two from the Ross duo on the sixth end-taking the score to 7-3 – left Rudman and Loveys with too much to do in the final four ends as the game ended 10-7, meaning that Herbert and Wright completed the double in HSMBA pairs competition for the season.
