As has become the standard since the move to three divisions several years ago, the halfway point of the Winter League season once again brings incredibly tight battles across the divisions.
In Division One, Gorsley Chapel Oaks find themselves top on 49 points as they look to put themselves in the mix for what would be their first Division One title. Hot on their heels are defending champions Woolhope Wanderers who sit 3 points behind on 46 with the Lea a further 6 behind them. Towards the bottom, Llangarron sit bottom on 19 points with Tarrington above them on 25 although both teams remain firmly in touch with the teams above them, one of which includes Ross Wolves who are looking to recover from an unusually poor start.
St Martins Hawks lead the way in Division 2 although they have played a match more than their rivals. Gorsley Chapel Cedars are within a win of the leaders and the next 3 teams are covered by only 3 points. Aston Ingham Severns and Fownhope Robins are a little adrift at the bottom although Fownhope have played a match less than the teams around them and will be keen to make the most of that in the New Year.
Ross Alligators have already established a clear lead at the top of Division 3 and are 10 points ahead of second placed Ledbury Swallows who themselves have a 7 point lead over Dewchurch Warriors. St Weonards Saints, in their first season in the league and less than 18 months after the first bowling at the club, have picked up points in 5 of their 6 matches but are still seeking that elusive first match win.
